For those in need of an example, in terms of introducing a character, this is where you will need to read. Further teaching will take place in the classroom, but this is an example to reference by.

There couldn't have been a worse place to get lost in. Or had he ever been lost? Had he really wanted to know, he would have shrugged it off, but instead his mind bypassed the thought and wandered; as he was. Vence was unsure of what circumstances he would meander into here. His mind, needed to be clear.
So far, the forest was light, as evening was still settling in. The sound of songbirds eased his muscles, and his body was relaxed. The only sound that unnerved him was the growl of his stomach. A rabbit would do.
Later.
He kept walking, his pace light, and his eyes observant. This place was very well, he couldn't place it. Though, he wondered if he had been here before. Even just once. It was a thought, which he soon discarded.
The forest grew dimmer, and songbirds seemed to quiet themselves. Surely night was not falling so quickly? Vence immediately rose his gaze to the canopy, peeking through the dull colored leaves--some were growing yellow, others already red in places. The sky was as orange as it had been, maybe a bit darker, with red and pink in the mix.
He couldn't recall what it looked like last time he inspected.
His paws felt cautiously over the greenery, and with each step his ears strained to catch something over his noisy fumbling. How was he supposed to stay quiet, when all around him lay twigs and fallen brush? Leaves, bugs, spiders. The thought send his fur crawling, and Vence was forced to stop and shake his coat to rid the sensation.
He could feel them all over him, crawling through his fur...with their legs...and their eyes.
Vence pulled his dark chocolate eyes away from the ground and set them ahead, willing himself to not look down again for the sake of spotting some hungry spider.
This place...it...it seemed to be the root of his quickened pulse, of his tense step, and labored breathing. Vence hadn't expected so many memories to fall back to him now, how far had he walked since then? Surely, he wasn't going in circles? No! He couldn't be. This place was different. His sister was not here.
She never would be.
He feared she was already dead. It was a possibility.
Quietly, the wolf paused, and gripped the soul beneath him. The shadows, all around him, they danced and sparkled with eyes...why did they watch him? What...what did they want? He had nothing. He wanted nothing. Only, to sleep. That seemed to be what everyone wanted nowadays. To sleep, or eat.
Vence could have cared less about food. He hadn't eaten in days, and it was beginning to show through. With each frightened breath, his ribs poked through his flesh and begged for nourishment. Begged for...for anything.
Anything but a home!
He was born second in the litter; he was given the mark of a nomad. That, that was what it was. He was not promised the well giving’s of an alpha, or the intelligence of an observer. Vence was just...a drifter. The weaving lines behind his eyes told of travel and unrest. He just knew it.
That was all there ever had been.
With a dry gulp, Vence picked up his paws again, having spotted a rather healthy looking tree. Its berth was wide, and he could rest in the shadow of it. This place seemed to be void of a leader of any type. He could hunt for himself later.
The thought of claiming this forest as his own never crossed his mind.
He settled his tired eyes over a moth, as it fluttered through the faltering rays of sun. Dusk seemed to be upon him. Vence's breath caught in his throat, as he plopped upon his haunches and tossed his head upward, peering fretfully into what bit of the purple sky he could see through the dark limbs.
And, slowly, he pulled himself away, and slid against the roots, propping his muzzle upon one that had drawn itself from the earth. He sighed, and listened as night closed in.
